How to Use Loose Powder Highlighter

Step 1: Use a radiant base. Even if you're only applying highlighter, it's important to apply a primer underneath. You can even pick up a product that will help enhance your radiant look.

Step 2: Shake and tap. Loose highlighter powders have a reputation for being messy, and for good reason. A little spill and you'll find sparks on the floor for years to come. (Just kidding -- sort of.) That's why you don't want to stray from these steps. When the cap on the highlighter is tight, shake it upside down for a minute or two. Then, pat it on your dresser or counter.

Step 3: Pick up the powder. The little trick in step 1 helps deposit the product on the lid of the highlighter, which you can use as a temporary palette. Using the highlighter on the lid, rather than dipping directly into jars or jars that hold a lot of product, can help you reduce the risk of making a mess or picking up too much product. Using a small brush, swirl the inside of the lid to apply the highlighter, then tap off excess around the edges.
